If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we’re not going back to normal. Not when normal is a climate crisis that threatens our future and a system of deeply entrenched racism and inequality.
Former Vice President Joe Biden’s ambitious and aggressive clean energy plan recognizes this reality and demonstrates the kind of urgent action needed to tackle the climate crisis, confront decades of environmental racism, and rebuild our economy in a truly just way that works for all Americans – not just the wealthy. The Climate Reality Action Fund commends the Biden campaign for adopting this plan for 100 percent carbon-free energy by 2035, and we thank the diverse group of youth activists, justice advocates, and thinkers on the task force who were critical in recommending this course of action.
The science is clear and the moment is now: America must act quickly and decisively. We need a comprehensive nationwide effort to accelerate a just transition to clean energy that creates millions of green jobs, invests in historically marginalized communities, and dramatically reduces carbon emissions in time to avert global catastrophe.
