Climate Reality Action Fund Turns Out Critical Climate Voters in Nevada and Arizona

Washington, DC (December 5, 2022) -- Climate Reality Action Fund’s (CRAF) midterm election efforts turned out critical climate voters in Nevada and Arizona this cycle, helping to secure wins for climate champions in both the Senate and the House.

“We are in the midst of a crucial moment for climate action, and every single vote matters,” said Phyllis Cuttino, CEO of the Climate Reality Action Fund. “Voters in Nevada and Arizona know firsthand how devastating the climate crisis can be and they turned out to ensure climate candidates made it across the finish line. Thanks in part to the work of the Climate Reality Action Fund, Senator Cortez Masto was re-elected to the Senate and Representatives Lee and Horsford were re-elected to the House. Congress must now continue to address the climate crisis and ensure that IRA funding goes to the communities who need it most.”

Climate Reality Action Fund was one of the first organizations on the ground in Nevada and Arizona to register voters this cycle. Targeting young and marginalized voters with a climate message, Climate Reality Action Fund:

• Collected 18,047 registration cards in Clark and Washoe counties in Nevada between March 25 – August 14, 2022
• Knocked on 56,662 doors reaching 163,802 voters in Nevada
• All doors knocked supported the reelection of Senator Catherine Cortez Masto with 42,110 doors reaching 98,288 voters in CD-3 for Congresswoman Susie Lee and 14,552 doors knocked reaching 65,514 voters in CD-4 for Congressman Stephen Horsford.
• Collected 1,988 registration cards in Maricopa County in Arizona between March 25–June 10, 2022.

Climate Reality Action Fund’s turnout program was in partnership with Climate Power Action, EDF Action Votes, League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund, NRDC Action Votes, and NextGen PAC, for an unprecedented $135 million climate IE program aimed at mobilizing climate voters in key battleground states in order to protect the Democratic majority in Congress.
